Childhood and Career
Sehwag went to Arora Vidya School in Delhi. He pleaded with his parents to let him play cricket as that was his passion. In the 1997-1998 first class cricket season, Sehwag made his debut by playing for Delhi. In the following season, he was selected to the North Zone cricket team for the Duleep Trophy. He batted very well and was thus included in the under 19 team which toured South Africa. The selectors noted his consistently good performance and he soon became a member of the national team in 2001. Although his international career had started, he carried on playing for Delhi and captained North Zone to victory in 2004-05 and 2005-2006.
